Unaka Cross Bars - Ram ProMaster, 60.25"

Sixty and a quarter inches of T-slotted bar across a ProMaster roof — the mounting surface your solar panels and gear boxes actually need.

A rack perimeter is a frame. Cross bars are what turn it into a mounting surface. Once they are on, you have continuous T-slot running side to side, which means solar panels, gear boxes, traction boards, an awning or a spare wheel carrier can be positioned anywhere along the bar rather than only where a hole happens to be.

These are cut to 60.25" for the ProMaster, which is the widest of the mainstream cargo vans — and the reason a ProMaster roof holds a genuinely useful solar array.

What it is for

• Adding mounting positions to an existing Unaka or 15 series ProMaster roof rack.
• Creating a continuous base for solar panels, which almost always need to span side to side.
• Mounting boxes, boards, awnings or anything else that needs a solid, repositionable anchor.

Compatibility

You will need four 2-hole corner brackets and their hardware per cross bar. The cross bar hardware kit contains exactly that.

Working with it

Plan your cross bar spacing around what is going on the roof, not around what looks even. Solar panels have specific mounting hole spacings, and a fan or a vent has to sit between bars, not under one.

Lay everything out on the ground first — panels, boxes, the fan location marked with tape — and set the bar positions from that. Moving a cross bar later is easy; moving a solar panel bracket you already drilled is not.

• Lay the roof out on the ground before you set bar positions.
• Mark your fan and vent locations — bars cannot cross them.
• Load T-nuts for future accessories now, while the slot ends are open.
• Square the bars to the rails and check diagonals before final torque.

Questions we get asked

How do I know if my extrusion is 15 series?

Measure across the flat face of the profile. A 15 series extrusion is 1.5 in wide (or a multiple — 1.5 × 3.0, and so on) and the T-slot takes a 5/16-18 fastener. If your rack came from Unaka, 80/20 Inc., or most van rack makers in North America, it is 15 series.

Does this include the brackets?

No. Cross bars and bracket hardware are sold separately so you can buy exactly the number of each you need. One cross bar needs four 2-hole corner brackets, which is what the cross bar hardware kit provides.

Can I cut it shorter?

You can — it is aluminum extrusion. Use a fine-tooth non-ferrous blade, deburr the cut, and cap the end. But measure carefully: 60.25" is the ProMaster width for a reason.
