Ford Transit Bulkhead Piece (High Roof)

One piece, one job: keeping your ceiling on plane through the compound curve where the roof meets the bulkhead.

If the only thing standing between you and a finished front end is the curve at the bulkhead, this is the part — sold on its own rather than bundled with pillars you do not need.

It is a transition piece. Your ceiling arrives at the curve at whatever thickness you built it, anywhere from 1/4" to 3", and this holds it on plane so the ceiling reads as a single surface rather than stepping down where the roof shape changes.

Which trim kit should you actually buy?

• Buy this if the bulkhead curve is your only remaining problem on a high-roof Transit.
• Buy the Front Trim Kit if you also need the B-pillars.
• Buy the Full Interior Trim Kit if you need front and rear.
• Confirm your finished ceiling thickness is between 1/4" and 3".

Installing it: sequence matters more than skill

Fit it before the ceiling goes up. That is the entire trick. The piece exists to give the ceiling something to land on; if the ceiling is already up, you are scribing the ceiling to the piece instead.

Position it against a physical mock-up of your finished ceiling stack rather than a planned dimension. Cut a 12" square of your actual build-up — furring, insulation, panel, cladding — hold it against the curve, and set the piece to that.

Questions we get asked about this part

When in the build should I install it?

Before the walls and the ceiling panels. GoCode is explicit about this and we agree: fitting the trim first lets the wall and ceiling panels land against the trim flanges, which is what produces the factory-looking joint. You can install these kits after the panels are up, but it requires modifications and additional labour, and the joints never look as clean.

Can I paint or upholster it myself?

Yes. The parts are ABS, so they take an adhesion-promoting plastic primer and then any automotive topcoat. If you would rather not, order the Matte variant, which is finished in SEM Ultra-Black to kill the shine, or one of the upholstered variants.

Is this enough on its own?

It depends what is bothering you. If your walls already die cleanly into the cab area and only the ceiling transition looks wrong, yes. If the styrofoam blobs at the top corners are still exposed, you want the Front Trim Kit, which adds the B-pillar shells that cover them.
