The entry point into certified van seating — a single seat with a 3-point belt and ISOFIX that clips into a MobiFrame floor or rail system.
If you need to legally and safely carry an extra passenger in the back of a van, an unbelted bench or a bolted office chair is not the answer. The Taxi Clip Seat is a purpose-built single seat, fully tested to ECE requirements for M1 and N1 vehicles and safety tested to FMVSS, CMVSS and ECE requirements, with a 3-point belt and ISOFIX built in.
It clips into a MobiFrame one-piece composite floor with integrated aluminum tracks, or onto the MobiFrame aluminum rail system. If you have neither, the install kit adds a floor plate that lets it mount into a conventional van floor.
Which MobiFrame seat is right for your build?
- Choose the Standard Taxi Seat if you want the swivel. The rotating handle adjusts the seat back forward and back a few degrees for comfort. It does not fold flat.
- Choose the Folding Taxi Seat if you need the floor space back. It reclines partially and folds fully forward — but it does not come with a swivel.
- Add the install kit unless you already have a MobiFrame floor or rail system.
- Look at the Comfort Seat or the Seatbed if you want armrests, full 360° rotation or a bed function.

If you do not have a MobiFrame floor, you need the installation kit. It contains the floor plate, the anchoring and the adhesives, and it is not optional — a certified seat is only certified when it is attached the way it was tested.

Mounting, freight and what to expect on delivery day
This is a certified restraint system, not furniture. The seat is tested as an assembly with its anchorage, which means the floor plate, the anchoring hardware and the adhesive in the install kit are part of what makes it a legal seat. Improvising a mount with hardware store bolts undoes the certification you paid for.
Read the MobiFrame Single Seat Floor Plate Kit installation guideline before you start, and check the seat diagram for your exact variant — the folding and non-folding seats have different drawings.
- Use the supplied floor plate kit if you do not have a MobiFrame floor. It is what the certification depends on.
- The top tether anchor is on the rear lower frame under the seat bottom — confirm your child seat strap reaches before delivery day.
- Freight delivery is curbside or dock. Have two people and a way to move it.
- Confirm which variant you ordered against its diagram: the folding seat has no swivel.
Questions we get asked about this part
What do the safety certifications actually mean?
FMVSS and CMVSS are the US and Canadian federal motor vehicle safety standards. FMVSS/CMVSS 207 covers seating systems — the seat structure and its anchorage. A seat that meets it has been physically tested as an assembly. That certification depends on the seat being mounted the way it was tested, which is why the floor plate kit matters as much as the seat.
Can I fit a child seat?
Yes. These seats have ISOFIX anchor points and a top tether anchor. Note where the top tether attaches: the rear lower frame of the seat bottom, not the bulkhead behind it. Check the images and the seat diagram before you assume your child seat strap will reach.
What is the difference between the Standard and the Folding Taxi Seat?
The Standard has a swivel and a rotating handle that adjusts the backrest a few degrees for comfort, but it does not fold flat in either direction. The Folding reclines partially and folds fully forward to free up floor space, but it comes with no swivel. You are choosing between rotation and floor space.
Do I need the install kit?
Only if you do not have a MobiFrame floor system or the MobiFrame aluminum rail system. The kit includes the floor plate, anchoring and adhesives needed to mount a single seat into a conventional van floor.
