Six-hundred-fill ethically sourced duck down. The warmest, most compressible blanket in the range, for trips where the weather is the point.
This is the one made for the more extreme end — backcountry treks, shoulder-season nights, the trips where you are genuinely cold rather than pleasantly chilly. It is compact, warm, and packed with ethically sourced 600-fill duck down to keep you warm without weighing you down.
Down is the reason it compresses further than the synthetic blankets in the range for the same warmth. It is also the reason it needs slightly more care: down loses its insulating ability when it gets properly wet, and it takes longer to dry out again.
Who it is for
- Buy the Down Puffy if warmth-to-weight and packed size are what matter — cold trips, backcountry, shoulder season.
- Buy an Original Puffy or NanoLoft instead if the blanket will get wet, sandy or dog-adjacent regularly. Synthetic handles abuse better.
- Own both, honestly. Down for the cold trip, synthetic for daily van life.
- Store it uncompressed. More important with down than with any synthetic.

Living with it in a van
Down has one rule that matters more than all the others: never store it compressed. A down blanket left stuffed in its sack for a season loses loft, and lost loft is lost warmth that does not fully come back. In a van, keep it loose in a locker or folded on the bed and only stuff it when you are moving.
If it does get wet, dry it fully before storing it. Damp down clumps, and clumped down does not insulate.
- Never store it compressed. This is the single most important thing.
- Dry it completely before storing if it gets damp.
- Wash only when necessary, following Rumpl’s instructions — down needs a down-specific detergent.
- Tumble dry with dryer balls to break up clumps if the care instructions allow it.

Why do we stock blankets at a van parts shop?
Because we build vans and we know what actually gets used in them. A packable, wipe-clean, water-resistant blanket lives in a van in a way a cotton throw does not: it goes on the bed, over your knees at a trailhead, on the ground at a picnic table, and then packs back into a stuff sack instead of taking up half a cupboard.
What does 600-fill mean?
Fill power measures how much space an ounce of down occupies — higher numbers mean more loft, and therefore more warmth, for the same weight. 600-fill is a solid, practical grade: warm and compressible without the price of premium high-fill down.

Down or synthetic for a van?
If the blanket is going to live in the van and take abuse, buy synthetic — an Original Puffy or a NanoLoft. If it is going out with you on cold trips where packed size and warmth-to-weight matter, buy down. Most people who camp seriously end up with one of each.
