Ford Transit D-Pillar Trim Kit (High Roof)

The high-roof version. Three pieces around the rear doors, factory hole alignment, and a channel that hides the rear wire harness.

On a high-roof Transit the rear door opening is tall, which means any untidy finish at the threshold is visible from further away and for longer. This three-piece kit wraps that opening in molded trim that is flanged to receive your wall and ceiling panels, so the joint is designed rather than improvised.

It also takes the factory black harness that runs the rear doors and puts it inside the trim, which removes the most common eyesore in an otherwise clean Transit build.

Which trim kit should you actually buy?

• Buy this if you have a high-roof Ford Transit and want the rear doors finished properly.
• Buy the Mid Roof D-Pillar Trim Kit if your van is a mid roof — they are not interchangeable.
• Buy the Full Interior Trim Kit if you want the front B-pillars and bulkhead as well; it contains this kit.

Installing it: sequence matters more than skill

Do the trim before the panels. Every complaint we have ever heard about a trim kit — gaps, scribing, a piece that will not sit flat — traces back to walls and ceiling going in first.

Dry-fit all three pieces together and check the joints between them before you drive a single fastener. They are designed to align to factory holes, so if you find yourself forcing one, stop and check you have the right roof height.

Questions we get asked about this part

When in the build should I install it?

Before the walls and the ceiling panels. GoCode is explicit about this and we agree: fitting the trim first lets the wall and ceiling panels land against the trim flanges, which is what produces the factory-looking joint. You can install these kits after the panels are up, but it requires modifications and additional labour, and the joints never look as clean.

Can I paint or upholster it myself?

Yes. The parts are ABS, so they take an adhesion-promoting plastic primer and then any automotive topcoat. If you would rather not, order the Matte variant, which is finished in SEM Ultra-Black to kill the shine, or one of the upholstered variants.

How do I tell a mid roof from a high roof?

Stand inside. If a six-foot adult stands upright comfortably in the cargo area, it is a high roof. If they have to stoop, it is a mid roof. If you want certainty, send us the VIN and we will tell you.

Can I add the front trim later?

Yes, but it is easier and cheaper to buy the Full Interior Trim Kit up front, which bundles these D-pillars with the B-pillars and bulkhead trim.
