Six pieces that solve the two worst finish problems in a mid-roof Transit: the styrofoam blobs up front and the compound curve at the bulkhead.

Anyone who has converted a mid-roof Transit knows the two shapes that ruin a schedule. The molded styrofoam blobs behind the cab, which no flat panel will ever sit against, and the compound curve where the roof meets the bulkhead, which puts your ceiling on a different plane to your walls.

This kit covers both. A pair of shells caps the blobs, a bulkhead transition piece keeps ceilings between 1/4" and 3" thick on plane through the curve, and the three-piece rear D-pillar set finishes the back doors. Under an hour for the whole kit, before your panels go in.

Which trim kit should you actually buy?

  • Buy this if you have a Mid Roof Ford Transit 2015+ and you want the whole interior threshold done in one order.
  • Buy the Mid Roof D-Pillar Trim Kit alone if you only care about the rear doors.
  • Buy the high-roof Full Interior Trim Kit if your Transit is a high roof.
  • Check your ceiling thickness — the bulkhead transition is designed for finished ceilings from 1/4" to 3".

What's in the kit

  • Driver and passenger B-pillars — Ford Transit Mid Roof
  • Bulkhead trim — Ford Transit Mid Roof
  • 3-piece rear D-pillar trim kit — Ford Transit Mid Roof
  • Necessary additional install hardware

Installing it: sequence matters more than skill

Order of operations decides how this looks. Trim kit first; wall panels and ceiling panels second, landing on the trim flanges. Doing it the other way round means scribing panels to trim, which is slow and never quite right.

Before you fix the bulkhead piece, know your finished ceiling thickness. The transition is designed to hold ceilings from 1/4" to 3" on plane, but you set it once. Cut a sample of your actual ceiling build-up — furring, insulation, panel, any cladding — and use that to position the piece.

  • Install before wall and ceiling panels, without exception.
  • Know your finished ceiling thickness before you set the bulkhead transition.
  • Dry-fit the two front shells against the blobs before drilling — blob moldings vary slightly between vans.
  • Feed the rear harness into the D-pillar channel as you fit each piece.
  • Order upholstered variants early: 1.5 to 2 weeks lead time.

Questions we get asked about this part

When in the build should I install it?

Before the walls and the ceiling panels. GoCode is explicit about this and we agree: fitting the trim first lets the wall and ceiling panels land against the trim flanges, which is what produces the factory-looking joint. You can install these kits after the panels are up, but it requires modifications and additional labour, and the joints never look as clean.

Can I paint or upholster it myself?

Yes. The parts are ABS, so they take an adhesion-promoting plastic primer and then any automotive topcoat. If you would rather not, order the Matte variant, which is finished in SEM Ultra-Black to kill the shine, or one of the upholstered variants.

What are the “blobs”?

The molded styrofoam forms Ford fits at the top corners behind the cab. They are structural packaging, they are an awkward compound shape, and no flat panel will ever sit against them. The two front shells in this kit cover them.

My ceiling is 3.5" thick. Will the bulkhead piece work?

The transition is specified for finished ceilings from 1/4" to 3". Above that you are outside the design range — talk to us before ordering and we will look at what your build actually needs.
