Mercedes Sprinter Rear Half-Slider Window Trim Ring

The part that turns a cut hole and a bonded pane into a finished window — and the part most DIY builds try to fake with a strip of wood.
Once the glass is bonded in, you are left with a raw cavity between the window flange and the inside face of your wall: bare metal, cut insulation, an edge of plywood or ABS. A trim ring is the collar that closes that gap in one piece. This one is cut for the rear half-slider opening in a Mercedes Sprinter.
The reason we sell these rather than telling people to build their own is repeatability. A hand-built wooden surround around a curved van window takes a competent joiner most of a day and looks handmade forever. This drops in, gets trimmed to your wall depth, and reads as factory.
Before you add it to the cart
- Buy this if you are fitting a rear half-slider to a Sprinter and your wall panels are going in after the glass.
- Measure your wall depth first. The ring is supplied deep on purpose so you can cut it back — that is the design, not a defect.
- Check your glass brand against the compatibility list below. These rings are cut around the common aftermarket half-slider flange, not around an OEM window.
- Buy one per window. This is a single ring, not a pair.
Fitment and window compatibility
| Vehicle | Mercedes-Benz Sprinter |
| Opening | Rear half-slider window |
| Window brands supported | CRL, VWD, VanTekGlass, Premier, TheVanMart |
| Depth | Supplied deep and cut to fit your wall build-up |
| Quantity | One ring per listing |
If your window came from a brand not on that list, send us a photo of the interior flange and the opening dimensions before you order. Half-slider flanges are close but not identical between manufacturers and we would rather check than have you sand one to fit.

What ships to you
- (1) Mercedes Sprinter rear half-slider window trim ring
- Fasteners and adhesive are not included — the right ones depend on which mounting method you choose
Two ways to install it, and which one we use
Method one, self-tapped from the front. Wall panel goes up, ring goes on, self-tapping screws through the flange into the panel. Twenty minutes, completely reversible, and you can see the screw heads. This is the right choice if you might pull the panel later for wiring.
Method two, glued or through-bolted from behind. The ring is fixed to the back face of the panel before the panel goes up, so nothing shows from inside the van. This is what we do on customer builds. It is a better-looking result and a less forgiving process — you get one attempt at the alignment, and you need clamps or cauls while the adhesive cures.
- Measure the finished wall thickness at four points around the opening before cutting. Van walls are rarely the same depth all the way round.
- Cut with a fine-tooth blade and take a test slice on the offcut side first.
- Dry-fit with tape before you commit to fasteners or glue.
- If you are upholstering the ring, upholster it before it is fitted — wrapping fabric around an installed ring is miserable.
Questions we get asked about this part
Can I shorten the ring?
Yes, and most builders do. The rings are supplied deep so you can trim them down to the exact wall thickness you have actually built. Cut them on a table saw with a fine-tooth blade or a track saw against a straight edge, take a test slice first, and measure your finished wall from the glass flange to the face of your panel before you cut anything.
Screwed or glued?
Both work and they give different results. Self-tapping screws from outside through the ring into the wall panel is the fast method and is fully reversible — good if the panel might come off again. Glued or through-bolted from behind hides all fasteners and is what we do on customer vans, but you need to clamp it while the adhesive cures and you only get one shot at the alignment.
Does the ring hold the window in?
No. The glass is bonded to the van body by your window installer or by the window kit. The trim ring is the interior finishing collar that spans the gap between the glass flange and your finished wall, hides the raw metal and the insulation, and protects the panel edge. It is trim, not structure.
Can I paint it?
Yes. Scuff, degrease, use an adhesion-promoting primer suited to the substrate, then your topcoat. If you want a factory-matte look, a satin or flat black holds up better against sunlight through the glass than a gloss, which shows every fingerprint on a window surround.
