Nassimi Bleecker 54" Polyester Fabric
Reliable shipping
Flexible returns
The lightest of the Nassimi polyesters at 13/14 oz — the one to choose when the fabric has to drape as well as wear.
Bleecker is the lightweight of the Nassimi contract polyester range, and weight is exactly why you would pick it. At 13/14 oz per yard it drapes over a shaped cushion, a bolster or a curved dinette back in a way the heavier Minetta will not, while still carrying the same 100,000 double rub abrasion rating.
It is a contract and residential upholstery fabric, which in practice means it is built for furniture that people sit on every day and wipe down without ceremony — dinettes, chaise areas, extra seating in a van or an RV.
Where this fabric belongs in a van — and where it does not
- Choose Bleecker if your cushions are shaped, bolstered or curved and you need the fabric to drape.
- Choose Minetta if you want a heavier hand and more body — 19 oz instead of 13/14.
- Choose Varick if you want a linen-blend texture.
- Choose Moxie if the surface has to be genuinely wipeable — it is PVC-coated and rated to 250,000+ double rubs.
- Do not use it for wall panels. Marathon Tweed is cheaper and better suited.

What you receive
- Nassimi Bleecker fabric cut to the number of linear yards ordered, 54" wide
Working with it
For cushions, sew rather than staple. A sewn, zipped cover you can take off and wash is worth the extra hour, because a van cushion cover will eventually meet coffee, a dog, or both.
If you are wrapping a hard panel — a seat back board, a headboard — treat it like any upholstery fabric: foam first, then fabric, staple from the centers outward.
- Sew removable, zipped covers for anything that gets sat on.
- Lighter weight means it drapes well over shaped foam — use that.
- Follow the Nassimi cleaning guide rather than improvising with household cleaners; solvents can damage the finish.
- Order all the yardage for one project at once so it comes from a single dye lot.
Questions we get asked about this part
What is a double rub, and does 100,000 matter in a van?
A double rub is one back-and-forth cycle of the Wyzenbeek abrasion test (ASTM D4157). Contract furniture is generally specified at 30,000 and heavy-duty commercial at 100,000. A van dinette gets a fraction of the traffic of an airport lounge chair, so a 100,000 double rub rating is comfortably ahead of what your build will ever ask of it.
How much do I need?
Measure each panel, add 3–4 inches on every side for wrapping and stapling, lay the shapes out on a 54" wide strip on paper, and count the linear yards. Then add ten percent. Every upholsterer we know has run out on the last panel at least once, and dye lots do not match perfectly between orders.
Can I buy any color by the yard?
Bleecker is sold by the linear yard. Nassimi lines carry limited stock generally — if the color you want is not selectable, contact us and we will tell you whether it can be sourced by the roll.
Is it waterproof?
No. It is a woven polyester upholstery fabric, not a coated one. It cleans well but it is not a barrier. If you need a spill to sit on the surface rather than soak in, buy the PVC-coated Moxie.
